Aloo ka paratha is a most popular North Indian recipe.It is simple but tastes great. Aloo ka paratha goes well with spicy yoghurt,butter or any chutney or pickle of your choice.


  • Wheat Flour - 2 cups
  • Water - as much needed to make soft dough
  • Potato - 5 medium sized,boiled,peeled and mashed
  • Onion - 1 tbsp (chopped)
  • Green Chilly - as per taste(chopped)
  • Garam masala - 1 pinch
  • Roasted cumin and coriander powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Coriander Leave - chopped 1 tbsp
  • Salt as per taste
  • Oil - 1/2 tsp
  • Oil for shallow frying

Mix wheat flour and water in a bowl and make soft,smooth and pliable dough.

In a frying pan heat 1/2 tbsp of oil and add green chilly and onion fry until golden brown,then add garam masala and fry for 30 seconds.

Step 5

Now in boiled mashed potato add this fried onion,coriander leave,roasted cumin and coriander powder and salt and mix properly.

Step 6

For making parathas pinch out a lemon sized ball from the dough,roll out into a small disc.

Step 7

Place spoonful of filling in the middle and bring the edges together to completely cover the filling.The edges should overlap slightly to seal the masala.

Step 8

Now gently flatten the filled ball. Dust with flour and roll out to a flat disc of about 5-6 inches.

Step 9

Heat a tava (griddle) place the stuffed paratha and apply oil on both side,turn over time to time and cook till both sides turn golden brown.

Step 10

Aloo ka paratha is ready to serve.
